Local GovernmentThe next 3-5 years present an exciting, but challenging, time for local authorities as they lead the transformation of adult social care working with public and private partners. There will be significant opportunity for innovation, new ways of working and stimulation of a marketplace for new types of providers and service offerings.

Successfully implementing personal budgets and self-directed support will require significant changes to the way local authorities currently deliver social care. These changes will need to be supported by new systems and tools that empower the individual whilst also providing the local authority with the necessary information to fulfil ongoing statutory responsibilities.

Plan My Care provides local authorities with processes and tools to implement personal budgets and self-directed support with the additional benefits of:

  • Consultancy support - working in partnership with the Young Foundation, Improvement and Efficiency South East (IESE) and thinkpublic, we provide access to a unique set of skills and experience
  • Collaboration – learning from best practice across other authorities
  • Provider engagement – engaging with a wide range of providers to be able to offer real choice and personalisation for the individual
  • Efficiency savings – transforming care management and procurement
  • Benchmarking – demonstrating progress on social care transformation in readiness for the Comprehensive Area Assessment
